Happy 1st December!

Hi everyone!

It's finally December! That can only mean one thing - Christmas is coming! This year I seem to be more excited than I would be when I was younger? So as it is the first and the first Christmas season for the blog - I thought I would kick off the month with a few things that I enjoy seeing for the build up of Christmas.

1. Christmas lights - they have to be by far the best thing about Christmas, why don't we decorate houses, towns and shopping centres with lights all year round?!

2. Costa Christmas cups - if you live in the UK, then you'll understand what I mean! I love the takeaway cups which Costa coffee provide when you get a hot drink. I always seem to get a snowman one and I definitely recommend the white hot chocolate that they sell too at Christmas!

3. Advent calendars - I'm a huge chocoholic so having to have a piece everyday in December is my cup of tea. (This year I've got a Frozen one - I know I'm cool! ;) )

4. Christmas themed movies - Seeing the old time classics air pretty much every weekend as well as new releases in the cinema. I've already gone and seen Nativity 3 (it was so cute like the other two) and my all time favourite Christmas film is always on and that is Home Alone!

5. Christmas shopping - I think I may be the only person who enjoys going out shopping and finding presents for my loved ones! Everything is so nicely themed and there seems to be so much more to buy which makes buying gifts for others much easier!

So there we go, the first Christmas themed post of this month - there will be a lot more where that came from. Also, are you liking the newish theme? I've updated it especially for this month!

November favouritres

Hi everyone!

It's that time of month once again - I'm thinking about doing these every so often to build up my favourites a bit more as it is a bit of a struggle to keep up with new things! Let me know in the comments what you think.

Music

Picture
I have become literally OBSESSED with George Ezra this month! He has such a smooth voice and I love acoustic/indie songs at the moment and he has been on replay on Spotify every day of this month. My favourite track of his this month has got to be Listen to the Man (by playing the link below!)

Book

Picture
I have been reading Gone Girl this month (once again because of the film I decided to read the book first) and it's so good! I really enjoy these mystery books at the moment and the storyline of this book is so good!

YouTuber

Picture
I've been watching so many gaming videos lately and since I don't own any console, I like to watch the gameplay on YouTube of new video games once they've come out (cheaper way to do it I think!) As Sunset Overdrive looks so good but I don't own an Xbox - I started watching InTheLittleWood. I started watching him back in August when he played Jet Set Radio Future and this month he was playing Sunset Overdrive! He's great at commentating (in my view) and if you enjoy gaming videos - I'm sure you'll love him! (Link on picture!)

Cosmetic

Picture
I don't think this classifies as a 'cosmetic' but I really wanted to share with you all this product. I brought Johnson's night baby cream a few years ago and I completely forgot about it until this month. It smells AMAZING! And I think it really works too - I always feel sleepier when using this and I nod off a lot quicker! I love it so much and it just had to be in this months favourites!

Hair product

Picture
I've been crimping my hair a lot recently - but not heatlessly (thats not a real word but I'm sure you get what I mean!) And it's been a while since I've been using heat tools on my hair and that means that I've ran out of heat protectant spray. But I found a bottle that I received from my birthday and I've forgotten my love for this product! It's GHD protectant spray and yes it smells amazing! (whats with all the smells in this post?) I'm addicted to it - it works amazingly well with my hair and its reduced the amount of split ends I would get with heat tools normally.

And thats another month out of the way! I can't believe it will be after Christmas when the next monthly favourites might be live!

Things I learnt from being a child

16/11/2014

Hi everyone!

(Nothing exciting has happened this week - so in my drafts was this little post.)

Growing up we all learn a thing or two especially when we're quite young. I thought I would share with you what I learnt growing up in my younger years (of course because I know I don't class as an adult yet) and what I would've told myself back then!

1. Don't get too attached

I aim this at my 12 year old self. Like every young 12 year old we all have someone that we like who is completely out of our leagues. This lesson I have kind of rediscovered was from reading my Timehop from about 4 years ago. So basically I had a crush on a this boy and I thought we were going to get together like a scene in High School Musical. So to make it completely obvious that I liked him, I would write about 10 soppy love statuses in a row trying to get this one boys attention and obviously it didn't work! I remember getting upset, but I've learnt from the experience not to get attached to someone who barely even knows you!

2. If its cut, don't pick it!

That is such a random title & I'm really hoping that you're reading on instead of looking at the titles otherwise some readers are going to be utterly confused. Now, when we're young we're going to cut our arms, legs, basically every body part and they will scab up (naturally.) But for me, I always used to pick at things like this causing them to leave me with horrible scars all over my body! I hate having to try and get rid of them now its such a pain, I now wish I never even went near them!

3. Don't bite your nails

I've bitten my nails for years and its only now that I'm trying my hardest to grow them! But obviously where I've bitten them for so long they are incredibly weak and they just snap or break off. I literally have to soak my nails in nail strengthener before painting my nails and that hardly helps!

4. Never cut your hair stupidly short again

I can't stress this one enough for me! So when I was about 9/10, I had such long hair and it was all curly and wavy and I loved it. But for some stupid reason, I decided to get my hair cut to my shoulders. It was horrendous. I would show you a photo but its far too embarrassing for me to share! As time went on, I got it cut shorter and shorter until it got cut to my ears... I had this haircut for about 2 years until I decided to grow it all out (which I honestly can't remember doing) and now when everyone asks me how I grew my hair, it took me 6 years to get it where it is now (and it isn't even that long!)

5. Don't wear mums glasses

Okay, again this needs an explanation otherwise you may be totally lost on what I'm on about. So when I was about 4, I used to put on my mums prescription glasses as I thought I would be funny and pretend to look like my mum (wow so crazy) and I started doing that on a regular basis. It wasn't until I was 8 until my teacher realised I couldn't read the board and then I needed glasses. I still believe to this day that because of my (wild) antics back when I was four is the reason I have VERY poor eyesight. I just wish I didn't have to wear glasses or have to put in contacts everyday, I'd rather have perfect vision without either!

6. Come out of your shell more

When growing up, I was fairly shy. It's only been the pass few years where I've come out of my shell more and became more confident with myself! Because of this, I've accepted more offers to do things and I just wish I had been more outgoing when I was younger, then more opportunities would've come my way!

7. Don't worry about how you look

This is more of a lesson I've learnt from myself about a year ago. I was a brace face and (still) a four eyes and even though I was out of my shell, I did feel very self conscious on how looked and that I wasn't pretty enough etc etc. But now I look back and just think why did I worry about it so much? I spent far too much time trying to change the inevitable and should've spent that time worrying about other things!

8. Go have some adventures!

I feel like I have had an amazing childhood, but I guess with everything you do in life you'd wish you'd have done more with the situation! Even though I have had a great childhood I wish I said yes to more things! It just creates more memories for later years on which you can look back on a laugh at!

Once again, I've done an awkward number of points on this post, but I couldn't think of loads of things which I've learnt from growing up which didn't link with each other! What are some things you learnt from growing up?

Remembrance Day

10/11/2014

Hi everyone!

This weekend I went along to a memorial in my town, for the soldiers who all lost their lives for us to be here today. I feel that the least I could do was write one small post with a few pictures, to show my respect to those who have lost their lives and still and risking them today. (Also, currently whilst writing this: I'm sat with Jasmine in a coffee shop - the irony is brilliant.)

Picture
I think its amazing how a group of people can come together on the same day to remember those who lost their lives in aid of us who are living today. As we arrived, everyone was wearing their poppies with pride and watching as the ceremony continued. I do love seeing the poppies being around at this time of year - but I do believe we should maybe remember these soldiers all year round by wearing a poppy - just not in November. Granted, I don't wear a poppy every day of the year but I always feel bad that I don't do this when I visit this ceremony every year! (Does that make any sense?)

Picture
Once again, we did turn up a little later than usual, but we didn't miss out on too much (thank goodness!) I never really realise how many people from my town are a part of the different services that link in with the army - and I show my biggest respect for them as well.

If you're a regular reader - then you may remember me visiting the Tower of London last week to look at the poppies surrounding the building. That was a complete shock - each poppy represented someones life from WW1 and there was literally thousands. I think from the images it doesn't really capture how many poppies there were but then seeing it in person really got to me!

This was a pretty random pot - but if you've got this far thank you for reading. I know there a different views on Remembrance Day in the UK but like I said at the beginning I think this was the least I could do on this week. I hope you've enjoyed reading and as always...

London Shenanigans

Hi everyone!

I swear every year around the end of October - the beginning of November, my family and I tend to go to London. Shamefully, I have been to London twice in a week but the first visit was shopping so it doesn't count! This time around, me and my dad went to look at some of the sites that London has to offer and I thought it would make a cute little blog post with lots of pictures.
Picture
So firstly, we wanted to get to Tower Bridge but literally had no clue where to go. We found a footpath which was called the Thames Path, and I have to admit it was the loveliest route to go down. It followed a canal with lots of pretty boats and some nice looking pubs which go along the canal.

Not going to lie the walk did feel like forever and after passing about 3 of these, we decided to hire some Boris bikes!! I've wanted to go on them for absolutely ages and my dad finally gave in and got us some to hire! I couldn't believe how cheap they were, just £2 a bike for 24 hours?! They definitely need these in Cambridge it would my life so much more easier on the days when I miss the bus.

Picture
Yaaay! We finally made it to Tower Bridge and I love seeing Tower Bridge so much. I think its one of my favourite sites to see in London but I have no idea why! We had a small stop there to get off our bikes and look at boats (well my dad wanted to!) There was this huge ship which was also acting as a party boat and they were blaring the music out from the other side of the Thames, it brightened my day a little more!

Then we went to the actual Tower Of London to see the poppies scattered around the tower. It was absolutely beautiful but it is for all the wrong reasons. I couldn't believe each poppy represents someones life from WW1, so shocking. Seeing photos of the memorial poppies doesn't really capture how many there actually are - it was amazing but shocking at the same time? Also, it was incredibly crowded, so many tourists!

Picture
More sightseeing before we headed home - and of course, we went back in style on the bikes! I love London so much, but I don't think I would like going into work everyday - far too busy for my liking! If you've ever been to London, where's your favourite spot to be? Also, if you want to see more of my photos from my London trip you can view them on my Flickr page - I'm hoping to be using this a lot more now!
