Dealing with stress

Hi everyone!

Today's blog post is going to be some type of an attempted advice post. I'm not the best at these types of things, but I have been told that my advice does help in some places when they're in trouble or have problems. So lets give this one a try!

I also thought creating this blog post would also help all of you going through exams. I'm exactly in the same boat as all of you at the moment, I have had a few stress problems here and there in the past few weeks and I definitely needed to get this post out there to share with you all!

PMA

PMA is a little acronym that my mum taught me about a few years ago. PMA just basically means Positive Mental Attitude. Whatever stress you're going through, I thoroughly believe thinking positive is the best way to get you through any problems you may have.

Even I forget to do this sometimes, so what I like to do is set a little image of a motto as my phone background. Placing these little images is a great thing to do as lets be honest, we're all glued to our phones so why not put it somewhere where you will always look at once a day? I've put some images below of ones I like to use and they really do pick me up! Feel free to use any of these as a background (you can find millions on Google!)

Exercise

Since working in a sports shop, I've began getting into exercise again like I did when I was younger. Even though it won't be the same amount as I did then, I do try to go at least twice a week.

I know exercise isn't everyones cup of tea (trust me I've been there!) Even if it's just a walk, jog or doing a workout, this just gives you to clear your head and think about everything. For example: running gets your stress out and when you get back you feel a great amount of an adrenaline rush going through your body and I think thats the best feeling in the world! This also makes your brain relax, you're so focused on running you just forget about everything else!

Music

Not a fan of what I've said so far eh? Well, what about music? I love having a playlist of calming and slow songs set for one of these days filled with stress. TOP TIP: Create a playlist one day when you're calm as you know what songs suit you best. I think trying to find the songs on the day of stress just makes you even more stressed in case you can't find them and you have to go through 50 pages to find it!

All you need is headphones and an MP3 player. You can just plug the world out for the evening and you don't need to answer to anyone or anything then!

Pamper session

There's nothing I love more than treating myself to a little pamper sesh when I get in from a crazy stressful day. You can do so many things to pick up your feelings and I always feel so relaxed after doing one of these!

Firstly, a nice warm bath with bath bombs and thousands of bubbles! No bath? Not a problem, long hot shower it is! This is the time where all your troubles can sink into the water for the evening. After your bath/in the shower, give your hair some TLC. Grab your favourite shampoo, lather your hair up for ages and give yourself an amazing head massage. I just love seeing my hair be up like a cone when doing this (highly amusing!) Then, deep condition the ends of your hair, so they become silky and smooth to the touch (nothing better to be honest!)

After your bath/shower, give your body some TLC too! Massaging your body with your favourite moisturiser has got to be so relaxing, it gets the stress from all your muscles and you can feel the difference straight away! Do what you enjoy to pamper yourself: painting nails, plaiting hair, treating skin, just do what you enjoy! Its better to do it that way and then you know what to do each time you get stressed!

Rest

Sleep is the best medicine for anything. After relaxing from whatever, best thing to do it go to sleep. I love putting lavender on my pillow or having a hot water bottle (especially in the winter) and even having a nice hot chocolate before I go to sleep!

Well those are my tips for de-stressing. At the moment, I'm following a lot of these steps frequently due to my examinations for my GCSE's. I hope these have helped you, please let me know how I did on these advice type posts!

See you in the next blog post,

Grace x
