Hi everyone!

Suffer with chapped or dry lips? Don't worry, this do it yourself lip scrub will make your lips become smooth and moistured! I've tried this out and it works amazingly well!

So lets get into the tutorial!

What you'll need:

  • Sugar
  • Honey
  • Olive oil
  • Vaseline
  • Food colouring (optional)
  • Chapstick/Lip balm
  • Small pot
  • Measurement spoon set

Step 1:

Firstly, add one tablespoon of sugar into your mixing bowl. The sugar will act as an exfoliator, this will pick up the dead skin cells that are making your lips dry. Also, it tastes great! Then add in one tablespoon of honey. Honey is a natural ingredient which can really help with multiple things on your body. For the lips it adds moisture as well as lightening the lips to make them seem more brighter and vibrant! After, add in one teaspoon of olive oil. Again, this will add moisture to your lips, making them extra soft!

Step 2:

Mix, mix, mix! Stir these ingredients together until you receive a thick but mushy consistency (quite hard to explain!) When it has combined it should look like an brownish slush puppy!

Step 3:

Now, add in one teaspoon of vaseline into the mixture. This is an optional step, but personally I would add it in as it will add in extra moisture and we all know vaseline is a popular lip moisturiser!

Step 4:

This is another optional step. I added in 1/2 teaspoon of food colouring. I thought that the brown/yellow colour looked to boring, so why not add a bit of colour? However, when I used it on my lips it added a pink hint to my lips!

Step 5:

Pour the final product into your small pot! I just used a charity pot from Lush which could fit 10g of product inside it. The lip scrub probably makes around 13g of scrub as I had a bit left over!

Step 6:

Scrub! Just put a little bit on the end of your index finger and rub it around the most chapped areas. Leave it on for about a minute or two, then wipe off with a wet flannel! After you've wiped the scrub off, apply your favourite chapstick/lip balm to retain moisture.

And you're done! This scrub is really great especially during the winter months when your lips get dry from the winter breeze. But, if you're like me, this lip scrub is a god send as my lips are always dry through whatever season!

I hope this has helped, and I shall see you in the next blog post!
