Hi everyone!

Tired of having dry shins and knees after shaving? Can't be bothered to moisturise after? Don't worry, I feel your pain too! But this do it yourself shaving cream works wonders and I would love to share it with you all!

Lets get into it then!

What you'll need:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon set
  • Soap/pump bottle
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Baby oil
  • Moisturiser

Step 1:

First, I used 1/2 cup of coconut shampoo. The original method said to use 1 cup but that was around 16 tbsp and I don't think I wanted to waste too much shampoo. This measurement was enough though and it has lasted me several weeks.

Step 2:

Next, add in 1/2 cup of conditioner (of the same scent.) Conditioner adds in moisture and keeps your legs soft. I used to use conditioner by itself to shave my legs but it was too thick and caused multiple cuts in areas where I missed.

Step 3:

Then I added 5tsp of baby oil and coconut oil. This locks in the moisture that the conditioner gives us and it also means that you don't have to moisturise after, result!

Step 4:

Mix altogether and let it sit for one hour. In this time just watch some daytime TV or something (well thats what I did anyways!) Letting it sit ensures that it has all set well together and it will stay combined for longer! As you can see, it doesn't look much different after an hour, but it just helps it combine a lot easier than to continue mixing throughout the process!

Step 5:

Pour into your soap dispenser bottle/container. Then its ready to use! Originally when I first tried this method I used an old shampoo bottle to put the mixture into. However, when using the shaving mixture I always had too much of it so using a soap dispenser is a LOT easier to use and its much quicker to get the right amount!

Top Tips

  1. Adding more shampoo will make your mixture THINNER
  2. Adding more conditioner will make the mixture THICKER
  3. I would use the same scented ingredients throughout, then you won't get weird smells when using it!
And you're done! I always will use this now because its so easy to make and if you run out you can just make up another load!

See you in the next blog post,

Grace x
