Wunderbrow: eyebrow gel review

22/6/2018

Hi everyone!

Eyebrows. The current makeup trend that’s most of us are obsessed with and can make or break your makeup look for the day. With the common phrase most of us may follow is that “eyebrows are sisters... not twins”.

I don’t know about you, but I seem to want to fill my eyebrows in almost everyday (even on days where I don’t want to wear makeup). It’s become a habit of mine which i can’t shake! But wouldn’t it be great to just filled in your brows & for it to last a full day without having to spend big money on beauty treatments?
Picture
This is where Wunderbrow comes in.

Retailing at just under £20, their product is aimed to make eyebrow shaping and filling effortless and even say your brows can last for up to 3 days. The eyebrow gel also says that it’s waterproof, transfer proof and smudge proof, with the only way to take it off is by using oil based products (or some DIY makeup remover pads, which you can find a link to here). It also comes in 5 different natural looking shades and I will be using the brunette colour in this test.

So I’ve decided to put this 3 day longetivity to the test. I’ve had this product for a few months now but I’ve never fully tried the 3 day longetivity of it (I would remove it every day and re apply the next morning).

My brows in general & how I applied it:

Picture
My eyebrows and I have a love hate relationship. They’re not always equal and from past plucking experiences, I have a fair few bald spots - hence me wanting to fill them in almost everyday.

For each brow, I filled in my sparse spots by dipping an angled brush into the applicator and did light strokes in these areas. I don’t normally use the applicator which comes as part of the product as I find it a bit too messy.

For the inner parts of my brows, I used the same angled brush but blended it out with a spoolie brush to not make the look so “strong”. (Well, I tried to anyways!)

**Please note I am in no way to makeup artist, I do my makeup how I like it and it isn’t always up to a high standard or polished as I’d love it to be!**

As the gel is so thick itself, I have rarely found the need to brush through a clear gel to keep the stray hairs together, as this product does it all at once.

The results - did this last 3 days?

Day One:

I had to go to work on the first day of testing and it was starting to get warm here in the UK, so I knew my brows were going to get a bit of a challenge with my sweat (lovely image for you all there...)

My makeup look for the day was just a simple white eyeliner and mascara day and as always... I missed my eyelids completely and painted them in mascara - see what I mean about it not being polished?!

I did check ins throughout the day to see how my brows could hold up. As well as this, I made sure not to wipe my brows at all throughout the test when removing my makeup - to try and make it as fair as possible!

Apart from working, my day was pretty straightforward and easy. Nothing too strenuous for my brows to contend with.

You can see throughout the day that the inner corners began to fade away where there’s very little to no hair. This wasn’t too much of a surprise to me as my brows usually fade away on this spot of my face as it’s the most oiliest place on my dry skin.

However, my arches seemed to keep up well - they were sharp at the end of the day and there didn’t seem to be much fallout of product.
Day Two:

My day was pretty easy. I had no plans for the day apart from helping out around the house...were my brows going to be as strong as when I was to wake up?

To my surprise, my left brow was looking fairly fierce! My arch was strong, I had a sharp end to the brow and my inner corners hadn’t changed from what I went to bed with. And then I rolled over and looked at my right brow. What on earth had happened?! All definition was lost, I was back to the brow look that I had when I was 16...not a great look. I checked my pillows to see any fallout but I couldn’t see anything at all.

Anyways, it was time to shower. Usually when I use Wunderbrow on my eyebrows I scrub it off it my facial wash which exfoliates the skin as well, so it picks up any remaining product on my brows ready for me to fill it in when I do my makeup afterwards. But not this time. I wanted to test the “waterproof-ness” of these brows, so I was sure to get my face wet to see how they held up.

And as you can see by my extremely attractive “just got out the shower, look at my shower cap” photograph, that there was a bit of a change. My fierce looking left brow had ran away down the drain (NOOOO!) and the right brow....still looked the same as it did before.

Throughout the day I could see that more and more product was coming away from my brows, and by the evening there was very little holding on the hairs in my arches. However, in thicker parts of my brows (the mid section) there was a bit of product clinging on for dear life, ready to be hit with whatever I had next in this three day test. Could it last until the following morning?
Day Three: the final day!

So how did they last? Well, not fantastically as one would’ve hoped. It had seemed that the final particles which were clinging on to my eyebrow hairs had ran away into the night, without leaving any trace of fallout on my pillow.

My eyebrows were entirely bare. It was time to scrub my face clean and get ready to reapply another coat of Wunderbrow...

What, you thought I wasn’t going to re-apply it ever again?

Final thoughts and overview:

So, does Wunderbrow’s statement of being able to last 3 days actually live up to itself? Well, not exactly. If I didn’t sleep, shower or make any movement for 3 days straight - then maybe it would have.

BUT, this isn’t to mean I dislike the product. Like I said earlier, I had been using this product for a few months now and I have to admit, it’s been one of my favourite brow products by far. It can withhold my busiest of days, whether I’m running in the swealtering heat or going out clubbing, I still come home with full brows that I’m not shamed of. I definitely agree that my brows are smudge & transfer proof. However, it just seems that it doesn’t like the feel of cotton bedsheets & pillowcases and seems to leave my face by the following morning. Oh and it doesn’t like water much either.

Regardless, I would take a look at trying Wunderbrow for your brows, if you want something that lasts a bit longer and doesn’t budge it you accidentally touch or rub your brows (especially as it’s getting warmer here in the UK!)

(I’ve reached the end of my bottle and I’m definitely going to be repurchasing on my next pay cheque!)
Bit of a lengthy post, but I hope you enjoyed reading! Let me know if you’ve tried Wunderbrow or any of their other makeup products and how well they worked for you - maybe I was doing something wrong!

FFS (Friction Free Shaving) Review

9/12/2016

Picture
Hi everyone!

Ah it's been a while since I've been behind this screen typing to all of you! There has been a lot going on these last few weeks due to revising for my theory and getting ready for Christmas (can you believe it's come round once again this year?!)

Now as a extremely fair skin, young lady and with previous history of skin irritations throughout my 18 years of life, I've always struggled to have "perfect skin". Whether thats acne on my face, neck and shoulders or horrible red blotchy rashes on the back of my legs or on my arms. This means that shaving has always been an issue as my skin gets incredibly irriated on the second shave from that razor (if that makes sense) and cuts were unavoidable regardless of which product I used.
Picture
Until I stumbled across this advert via Facebook. Friction Free Shaving is a razor subcription which you pay monthly from as little as £3. You get 4 different razor heads per month (one for each week) and a fancy little handle. So after lots of deliberation and looking at the reviews, I thought I would try it out!

Payment & recieving the product:

After visiting the website (www.ffs.co.uk) I decided to go for 'Samantha.' A rose gold metal handle with a 5 blade head with a lubrication strip (I don't really know what this is meant to achieve?) However, this costs £7 per month which is 4 different blade heads per month. Along with the razor I decided to add their signature shaving cream to my order. This costs £6 per month for one bottle which should last around a month.

After submitting a payment for £13, I recieved a very blank email with no logos attached or social media links which I thought was kind of bizzarre in this day and age especially due to how their website and social media pages are designed beautifully! To say I was a bit skeptical about my order and wondering whether it was a scam was an understatment!
Picture
Hooray! It wasn't a scam and my parcel arrived within 5 days! I was super excited to try it out as soon as possible...

Using the product:

I started with the shave cream which is an "catonic" formula and it's meant to make your hair stand on end after you've left it on for 15 seconds. It suggests that all you need for that perfect shave is a 50p dollop per leg. Now, I'm 5"9 and my legs are quite long so not-so surprisingly, a 50p size dollop was not enough.

The scent of this cream is meant to be shea butter & manuka honey but if I'm honest with you it just smells of a really off fishy smell, something that isn't nice to be smelling when you're in a hot shower or bath.

Overall, the shaving cream was a bit underwhelming for me and I'm not sure if it lived up to its name and what it says on the tin.
Picture
I've been using the razor now for 3 weeks and I have literally loved the results after each shave. I'm experiencing very little to no shaving rash, irritated skin, nips or cuts anywhere. The blades are incredible and get right to the skin and I will probably start to feel the regrowth of hairs (also known as stubble) about 2 days later. Normally I would get stubble a day after shaving, so getting an extra day of smooth legs is brilliant!

The look of the razor is beautiful and it has a premium feel to it as well. Unlike store brought razors for women that are bendy or plastic, 'Samantha' is metal and feels quite weighty - a razor which I feel I can rely on for a long period of time.

This is probably the best razor I've ever used yet and the option to get 4 different heads each month means that hygiene isn't an issue anymore and I won't have to leave the house if I need to get a new razor!
Picture

The verdict?

The shave cream for me is a big no no! I'll probably be switching to an actual shave foam from the drugstore soon.

The razor? I definitely think you should look into subscribing to this service, especially if you're struggling with razor woes like me! From only £3 a month for their standard razor, I feel like it's a no brainer really!

KIKO 30 Day Extension Review

20/10/2016

Picture
Hi everyone!

Wow, long time no type...Apologies for that, a lot has been going on these last few months but I'm back and looking forward to getting back into typing for you all!

I've been itching to write this post for what seems like forever now, however I've just finished my 30 day lash treatment from KIKO Cosmetics and I thought I would share the process of the treatment and see if there is any difference between my lashes now and 30 days ago.

I had no issue with my lashes before starting this treatment, they separated fairly well and the length of them wasn't something I felt worried about because they did me just fine! However, when KIKO had a £3.90 deal for all mascaras it seemed daft not to try the treatment out!

I opted to buy both daily treatment and the night booster treatment - so lets flash back to the 20th September!
Picture
So this image was after the first day of treatment and I had just put the night booster treatment on. The booster treatment is a clear gel and feels very lightweight when applying. The clear substance makes it feel and look more natural instead of creating a black mascara which would leave residue under the eyes in the morning - so I was thankful that it didn't give me panda eyes every morning!

The brush was fairly fine and coated most lashes, I feel like it did clump them together when I was applying more than one coat, but again it was a clear substance so it didn't bother me too much!
Picture
Picture
Picture
The daily treatment was a very clumpy mascara to start off with. I would tend to wipe the edges of the brush first against the pot to avoid spider lashes becoming an issue to my everyday look. My usual routine is to add 3 different mascaras to my eyes: one that curls and separates the lashes, one that adds volume and a top coat which adds length. You may think that that's excessive or that there is a mascara that's out there which does all those things - I just haven't found it yet! So granted, it was odd to have one coat of mascara on my lashes and nothing else...

However, by day 25 you can see how my lashes have grown to accept the product and separate out - so it doesn't look too awful by then!
Picture
Left: no mascara Right: mascara
And we've reached the final day!

The changes may not be as noticeable to you, however for me looking at my lashes each morning I have noticed a slight change in length and more so volume and amount of lashes (which is weird because it feels like they've just popped up out of nowhere!)

So would I recommend it? I'm going to say yes. Especially if you struggle with short lashes and opt for fakes/extensions I definitely recommend trying this out to see how it works for you. The condition of my lashes has improved quite a fair bit too, a good 3 or 4 lashes from each eye would fall out after taking off my makeup everyday (that might be due to the different mascaras) and they would also feel quite rough. However, after using these products there has been little to no lash fallout everyday and they feel a lot softer!

Process pictures (the dates on the bottom probably aren't correct...trying to do these with a sleepy head and working backwards was somewhat difficult for my mind!)
Ah, it's good to be back!

WarPaint Cosmetics: Smokin' Palette review

13/6/2016

Picture
Hi everyone!

I've been hunting around for a brand new eyeshadow palette for a while now - my Revlon palette is getting a little worn now and I wanted to try out some new shades. As you may know, I'm a fan of Nina Nesbitt, and when she posted this on Instagram
Picture
I couldn't resist to look into the palette in which she was promoting!

Overview:

Warpaint Cosmetics is an animal cruelty free brand and do a range of products on their site. What pulled me was that they didn't test on animals - I try my best now to avoid buying any range of products that have been tested on animals as I don't want to feel awful when using them!

My main concern was maybe the quality of this product won't be as good as other high end products as the price of this palette was reasonably cheap. It costs £9.95 + £1.50* delivery charge (depending on the delivery service!) Delivery was quick and arrived at my house within 2 days.

Positives:

Picture
Firstly, I am in LOVE with the packaging of this palette. It's metallic look stands out from the rest of my other palettes which is a really nice change against the usual browns & black palettes that I own.

The pigmentation of the shades are fantastic! I've had to blend the shadows out so much to soften the look as they stand out so much. No primer is needed to keep the shades on all day (or night) and they're easy to blend out just as well.

The eyeshadow range is a mix of matte and shimmery shades - which are both key for a smokey eye look and I can't wait to test these shades on a night out soon!
Picture

Negatives:

Sadly, there is no mirror in the top half of the palette which means if you're taking this palette out and about - you're going to need an extra mirror lying around. The double headed eyeshadow applicator which comes with the palette isn't great either. The blending brush is a little to small for my liking and I rarely go near the tiny sponges to apply my makeup.

Other than that, I think this product is brilliant and I will be buying more things from their range soon!

TRESemme Full Volume Expert review

28/2/2016

Picture
 (Hi everyone!

TRESemme have recently brought out a new shampoo and conditioner range. Nothing crazy or amazing, however they have reversed the usual way that you would use your shampoo and conditioner. They say to use the conditioner first to avoid the terrible tangles after washing and maintain the moisture of your locks. And then use the shampoo to wash out the conditioner and gain the volume at your roots.

I've heard of this method before from a post on Pinterest (below!), so I thought I would try this brand out, see what I thought of the products and if it actually gives the hair volume that I want!

Positives:

The conditioner on this set smells BEAUTIFUL. It has a really subtle scent that stays in your hair after each wash. I love when shampoos linger in your hair after washing for days after, instead of drifting away a few hours after blowdrying. As well as this, a lot goes a long way. I've never used a pump before on my conditioner - so it was interesting to see how much I would actually use. After using this a couple of times I have felt for my length of hair that 2-3 pumps is enough to cover all of my ends.

Detangling is not a massive issue either with the conditioner - I've tested the conditioner on un brushed and brushed hair before dampening and both times I've had no issues with knots when combing with a wide tooth comb.

Negatives:

I had SO many high hopes after finishing a flawless conditioner, however after that step - everything just fell down hill!

The shampoo smelt absolutely horrible! It smells like a mix of bleach and soap - something that really put me off as I was expecting a similar scent like the conditioner had! This may be due to the "volumising" part of the whole process.

And disappointingly, the products did not give me any extra volume in my hair that I wanted after use. I may have to use the other products in this line for it to work fully, but when: a) you're on a budget and b) the advert promised that the shampoo and conditioner combo would do the trick, you feel a little bit underwhemeled!

Each time I have used these products, I have both blow dried my hair with a round brush, blow dried upside down and even let my hair dry naturally (to avoid any more damage!) Each result I ended up with the same limp hair that I would normally have with my normal shampoo and conditioner.

My verdict? I would not re buy this product in all honesty. Since it's recently been released, it is a little pricey for the result that you get! If you were to take anything away from this post, then just buy the conditioner and use a different shampoo! The results are the same whether you reverse the process or not in this case.

L'Oreal True Match: The Minerals

24/12/2015

Picture
Hi everyone!

Wow, I've actually stuck to two posts in one week? Someone must have some time on their hands!

You may have seen my blog post - a little over a year ago about high street foundation reviews (you can have a look here) and the first foundation I decided to review for you all was L'Oreal's True Match: The Foundation. It was and still is one of my favourites for various reasons (which you can see in the blog post, I still stand by them today!)

But now, with my acne prone skin - I have decided to find new foundations which should provide me full coverage as well as making my skin B R E A T H E. Luckily, L'Oreal has a powder version of their foundation which I was very much fond of this time last year. So I thought - why not give it a whirl?

(Disclaimer: as per, these are all of my own views! And also, shoutout to my mum who brought this product for herself and then I tried some and then I brought one in a paler shade...)

Positives:

First of all, for a powder foundation the coverage is absolutely amazing! You'd expect it to be very hard to see as powders normally don't show up (especially for me) on skin. Thats why normally I have a liquid foundation and a powder on top. As well as this - no extra powder is needed either (obviously!) which cuts down getting reading time by a HUGE amount. Since using this product my skin has improved a huge amount! Below are some images of the coverage (I've tried to do a comparison shot but as you can see its quite blurry!)
Picture
Picture
Picture

Negatives:

It is such a good product but there are a few things that I would love to have improved on it - to benefit others (and me!)

Firstly: WHY AM I SO PALE? There is no high street foundation (apart from No. 7) which has a colour that is close to my skin colour. In the new year, I aim to give Mac a try - when my bank balance can afford it that is! As you can see below, once again another foundation is too red toned (or orangey) for my pasty complexion.
Picture
The brush attached to the foundation is awful! I know it's just your usual bog standard makeup brush - but is there any need to add it on? Thats probably why the cost of it is fairly high - especially when you're on a budget! Instead of the brush given, I tend to use my finishing brush to spread the foundation easily, without having  the fibre hairs all over my face.
Picture
Picture
Overall, I really do like this product! I've been impressed by its standards so far and if they come out with an even paler shade for pasty Brits, like me, then that would be a big help!

If you'd like to get this product, it's in most drugstores (i.e. Boots or Superdrug) and is £14.99.

See you in the next blog post (& Merry Christmas everyone!

Aussie haircare review

2/11/2015

Picture
Hi everyone!

It's finally nice to get a review out there for you all - and yes I know what you're probably thinking "Aussie haircare is so old now"  or something along the lines of that. Yes, I haven't been able to try the Aussie haircare range for quite some time - but FINALLY I got round to it...And here is my honest opinion about the product.

(DISCLAIMER: these are all of my own views, not influenced by anyone else.)

Picture
Since having my ombre done, I always have a separate type of shampoo to my conditioner - it seems silly to have a colour protecting shampoo when my ends are the only part of my hair that's coloured! So for my roots - I used the miracle moist shampoo. Granted, it smells absolutely amazing and does leave the scent in your hair after drying, something that doesn't always occur with most shampoos these days. However, that is probably the only positive I have about this shampoo!

The consistency of the product is really thick which makes it harder to foam up in my hair. This may not be the case for everyone but it feels like I either have to rub vigorously to manage to get some foam produced or makes me feel like I've only slopped the shampoo on top of my head and there is no way of washing it out. Not a nice feeling when wanting to have fresh hair! And the issues with my hair and this product don't stop there - once dried, my hair will last - at most - a day of feeling fresh. Second day hair feels instantly greasy, meaning I have to tie it up or add a load of dry shampoo in the morning! This wasn't a good first impression, I must say.
Picture
Next up was the colour mate conditioner. Firstly, the scent on this product is awful! It's very chemically and sticks to the back of my throat. However, besides the odour that this product gives halfway through your hair wash routine, it really does do a good job on keeping the colour in my hair! It has seemed to of brightened up my ends a bit more and kept the blonde in a lot longer! Definitely a keeper if you have fully coloured hair as it really does the trick - shame about the smell though!
Picture
The final product I decided to try was the miracle recharge mist spray. It has the same gorgeous scent that the shampoo does and you can apply it to your hair whether it's wet or dry. The aim of this product is to give the hair moisture when it needs it most - and it really does do the trick! The scent stays in your hair all day and it has really given my dreadfull dead ends some moisture. When using this on dry hair - it gives it a bit of wave, which is a nice touch too!

So I wasn't overly please with some of the products I brought from this range, but it may just be my hair not agreeing with the product! Let me know in the comments if you've had a similar experience with Aussie hair care or if I just haven't found the right product yet!

Seventeen Falsifeye mascara (new)

22/5/2015

Hi everyone!

Yeah, once again this weeks beauty post is about ANOTHER mascara. I'm sorry - theres so many coming out at the moment that I want to try, plus it saves you spending your pennies on a product that you know nothing about!

This product is new on the shelves of Seventeen makeup range and is packaged very different to the other mascaras in the range (pictured below.) I've compared the look of this mascara against the Benefit They're Real mascara as it follows the same packaging the Benefit product with having images along the box to prove that its a good product. So - is this mascara the next Benefit They're Real at a cheaper price or is it just another dupe?
Picture

Overview:

This product is from Boots and cost me £6.99 - a extremely reasonable price for something with different and extra packaging! I brought this in a Boots in Saffron Walden, but I've seen it in other Boots around my area so I think anyone in the UK will be able to find it! Once again 9ml of product as every mascara.

Even though the packaging is different from any others in the range - the packaging of the actual mascara is very simplistic. It looks extremely like my go to mascara Seventeen Volume mascara. But the brush of mascara is very fine (shown in images below!) It looks like a thinner version of Benefits mascara, so at a first glance it looks very similar! I also brought this product in the colour brown/black for a more natural finish.
Picture

Positives:

The length that this product gives is amazing! I love having long lashes and this product gives this look instantly after one brush through them. The product works really well with my lashes and I think it gives best results after 2 coats. The brush ensures that the lashes don't stick together and makes sure they're separate from each other - another thing that I love about this mascara, something that I will always want from mascaras!
Picture
Picture

Negatives:

I don't have any issues with this product and for my lashes it really works for me and gives me the look that I want! The only issue, like with every mascara, is that it will most likely clump up after many coats - and if you know me you know I don't like that look! Also, I would love a nicer look of this product instead of the simple bland black, but apart from that I love it!

For my lashes - it works really well, much better than Benefits mascara in my opinion. If you're wanting to try the Benefit mascaras, I would try this product first to see how your lashes get on with it! Overall, a great product for a very reasonable price - definitely try it out.

Seventeen Super Lash mascara

15/5/2015

Hi everyone!

When it comes to mascaras - I think every lady will know that its a constant struggle to find a mascara that suits to your need. Some women like having lots of volume, where as others (like me) like having length, or both in some cases! However, we all stick to our favourites for ages as we don't want an expensive mascara go to waste or have a product that does nothing to our lashes.

Luckily, most mascaras for me that I try always give me nice results - my favourite brand which I will always live by is the Seventeen volume mascara in black/brown. Its such a basic and cheap mascara but it works extremely well with my lashes! However, I've been wanting try something that is around the same price range and is in the Seventeen category. This was when I stumbled across this Super Lash mascara (due to the colour obviously!) It's brand new on the shelve so I thought it deserved a little review!
Picture
Picture
Picture

Overview:

So I brought this mascara from my local Boots and Seventeen is in most Boots across the country (basically if the brand is in my local Boots, it will be anywhere!) Like a normal mascara you receive 9ml of product and this cost me £6.99.  Extremely reasonable price for those on a budget!

This product has fibres in the liquid to help the lengthening effects to take place. This product is based on length instead of volume and once again these are my opinions about the product!

Positives:

It basically does what it says on the tin practically - it really helps with the lengthening of my lashes and the results are noticeable from the first 3 brushes. Theres no horrible scent that comes along with it which is really good with this mascara as the past ones I have had have had this horrible chemically scent to it - so it was a nice relief when this fibre lash one didn't! It gives the best results at 1 - 2 coats (shown in the images here.) The brush is very fine which is something I love about these types of mascaras as it means my lashes wont stick together or clump after applying!
Picture
Picture

Negatives

Although it has so many benefits - I find that the product is extremely tacky. Not in the sense that it looks tacky, I find the formula to be very sticky which worried me slightly when I was trying it for the first time! This is why I said it works best at 1 - 2 coats, as you can see from the images it begins to clump up your lashes and makes them look un natural! Granted, many people can pull this off - but I have tiny little eyes so I have to keep it simple so make me look awake! As well as this, I find that the formula clumps up whilst its in the case which means you have to wipe the wand just before you're about to apply. Again, this is my personal choice on mascara - some people can really pull of thick lashes but for me I don't think it suits me!
Picture
Picture

Although there are some slight negatives to this product, I would re buy this. Its because the simple negatives that I've found are something that are easily avoidable. For example the tackyness of the formula making my lashes stick together is easily avoided by just wiping the wand with a tissue before use!

If you want long lashes at a cheaper price, I would recommend as I think it has performed better than high end products such as Benefit.

No. 7 Match Made Service review

4/5/2015

Hi everyone!

Hope all of those in the UK have had a lovely long weekend off - I've literally just got in from the town fair and from filming a small GoPro video for my dad, I should be able to link it soon!

Once again, I have completely thrown my schedule out of the window and I am putting up a beauty post on a Monday - sorry I haven't really got a good excuse! Just a warning - there may be a slight delay on Fridays post, but I promise a super long post is coming your way the following Monday!

Anyways, let me start on this review for you all - I've finished rambling on;)

(DISCLAIMER: these are all my own opinions, no branding or anything like that for this:))

I've been in need of a foundation for quite a while, and as you regular readers may know, I've recently brought Revlon Colorstay Foundation and I have adored wearing it due to the coverage that its given and how long its stayed on for etc. However, I've found as I've got the end of the bottle that its starting to get oranger and oranger (making up words once again.) As well as this, I've found that its beginning to get more cakey like Rimmel London's Wake Me Up foundation. Due to this I was in desperate need of finding a new foundation for my pasty skin!

A constant advert that keeps appearing on the TV is the No 7 colour match service (you know the one with that upbeat Jessie J song? Yep, that one) and I've been very curious on what its all about. As I'm in Cambridge 5/7 days a week, I decided to take a trip into town and find out what it was all about.

Before doing this - I was debating whether to go to MAC and get them to match my skin and foundation together, and I'm sure that the quality of MAC is very good, but when you're on a budget you need to find the next best thing!

(This match made service was in the Boots at the Grand Arcade in Cambridge.)

Overview:

You get taken to their counter and they bring out this little machine thing and ask if its okay to take off your makeup. Don't worry - they don't remove every thing off your face, they just take a stroke away from your jawline so it can match your neck!

After clearing the area of makeup - they take a picture of your skin and then it proceeds to work out what shade you are (there are 17 shades altogether.) My skin tone matched the foundation Calico and I was able to put a tester on my skin and see the results. The place was well lit so you would be able to tell if there was any lines - which there wasn't!

So this was all well and good - I definitely was interested in buying the foundation, but then there was the dreaded thought: "how much is this going to cost me?" And this foundation only cost me around £13. Extremely reasonable for the service I received AND the colour matches my skin!

I recommend this service to everyone who is struggling to find the perfect foundation for your skin. They will also ask what you would like from the foundation - for example: I asked for a matte, high coverage and long wear foundation. Since my skin is dried, the lady advised me to exfoliate and moisturise a lot more - and it has really helped out with the length of this foundation!

I was extremely happy with the service and I'm currently loving this product and I will definitely be using it for a while! I'll leave a link below so you can find your own Match Made store :)
