Video Production
During my academic career, I have been able to create a variety of videos to go out on online sharing platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Currently, I'm interested in creating social media video content in the form of captioned videos or short television style pieces.
Below are pieces of my work made across the years. From captioned videos, presenting news bulletins and personal work, this shows what editing skills I currently know. Editing software I currently use are: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Apple's iMovie editing software. |
LSJ News
sept. 2018 - may 2020
From September 2018, I took part in LSJ News at the University of Lincoln and as of September 2019, I was the Editor and Social Media manager for the programme. As a team we produced 3 bulletins a week, which includes local news, weather and sport. The bulletins are recorded and edited outside of our studying hours. Roles include sourcing original stories, writing scripts, video editing, creating video graphics and presenting. Below are a couple of examples of our recent work:

Alongside creating bulletins, from September 2019 I created an Instagram TV programme called This Week in Lincoln. The minute and a half videos are published once a week to talk about upcoming events happening in the city of Lincoln. As most of our news stories were event based, I believed it would be better to create a separate programme to tell audiences what was coming up within the next week, instead of putting it in our usual news bulletins. Examples of this can be found below:
Social Videos
Since studying journalism at the University of Lincoln, I've began to delve into the world of social media journalism and captioned videos. I've been fortunate enough to have sat side by side with video editors at The Mirror Online to see how they create their captioned videos for their Facebook and Instagram pages. The two videos I created for the team was the Glitter Churros video and the Biscuit Domino race with Yorkshire Tea.
I took this knowledge back to the newsroom and have created captioned videos for LSJ News. Examples below include the university's first RAG week, the Lincoln Love Trail and the Boston Body Hub. I have also created captioned videos for my step by step guides on my side website Make Up Your Mind which can be seen below.
All of these have been edited on Adobe Premiere Pro.

The Weekend Show
Sept. 2018 - Apr. 2019
From September 2018 - April 2019 I was part of the gallery team for a student podcast/show which is broadcasted on their Facebook page fortnightly. In this role I was in charge of the cameras & microphone levels (besides episode 2 where I co-presented with the team).
Alongside being part of the gallery team, I was also in charge of their social media pages (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) which can be viewed over on my social page here.

Personal Work
I've been creating videos for my own YouTube channel since the age of 14. Below are a couple which I'm proud of to this day! Both shot on a Canon 550D and edited on Apple's iMovie.
On the left is a video to advertise the National Citizen Service in the UK, a programme aimed at 15-17 year olds to meet new people and get involved in their community. As part of the National Citizen Service 2015, my team and I did a charity project for LGBT+ charity SexYouAlity. I created this video to showcase what we did in our fundraising week. For this video, I compiled all the shots together that I collected throughout the week and planned the video around the chosen song (Red Hands by Fall Off The Earth).
On the right is a video of the local fun run, Royston in Blue. The event, which is in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, has been going since 2012 and I wanted to show the event from a participants perspective. For this, I got all the different shots together and edited it to fit around the track Everybody Talks by Neon Trees.
