Current favourite things:

Hi everyone!

I stopped doing my monthly favourites a little while ago, as I'm the sort of person to like the same thing for over a few months so my options were slowly fading. Since then I have built up a few things which I have really enjoyed over the course of the last few months.

Music:

Spotify Premium has been my best friend for the past year, I can't live without it on my phone anymore! I found this band called San Fermin on the charts one week and I started listening to their Jackrabbit album which came out last year. Little to say I'm officially in love with them. There is so many people in one band - but it works so well! I'll link you below to the song that got me hooked, definitely give their album a listen! Beautiful voices and lyrics.

TV/Netflix:

I'm not even ashamed to be a part of this "fandom" - I cannot stop watching RuPaul's Drag Race. There I said it. I was shamefully invited to watch it by one of my friends and I am hooked! I have gotten through seasons 2 - 7 (there's no season 1 on Netflix unfortunately!) and I've started season 8 just yesterday and it NEVER gets old. I was a fan of America's Next Top Model growing up and this is the same just a lot more exciting! If you have Netflix, give it a watch and see what you think...Am I being crazy by enjoying it or do you agree how great it is?

Food:

If you've been reading recently you have noticed I've been taking part in a Dechox for British Heart Foundation (which is nearly over!) So my alternative food has been Nutrigrain breakfast bars. They were such a childhood treat when I was growing up, and now they're back in my life - why did I stop eating them?! They're great for a light snack and they're nice and sweet too without feeling guilty after eating one!

That's all I have together for now, it's a little shorter than my monthly favourites' posts but theres only a few hobbies at a time that I can balance! Let me know if you watch/listen/eat any of these things and let me know what you think.

See you in the next blog post,

Hi everyone!

Week three of the Dechox is over and I can almost taste the chocolate on April 1st already! This week was meant to be the most easiest one as I'm on the home run - but for some reason, I've completely forgot that I'm still doing the Dechox! My dreams about chocolate have now stopped, but now I keep asking for things like hot chocolate, ice cream and biscuits without realising that I'm not allowed them! Mums birthday meal went a breeze and I settled with some popcorn at the end of the day - so all was good!

Oh well, it will be the final week next week which means Easter is on it's way! I know that's going to be the tough one as I LOVE easter eggs, my plan is to stock up on the choclatey treats before they come off sale!

See you in the next blog post,

Dear Mum...

I just wanted to start off with wishing you a VERY happy 50th birthday! As I always seem to write in birthday cards "I hope you have a great day, you deserve it!" I felt like that was too generic and a card can only fit so many words and you cant put pictures in a birthday card! So I thought I would write you a little something on here, as it is a special age...

To begin this all off, you are as daft as a brush. Toilet roll is NOT your best friend at the best of times, dressing up seem to be an occurrence in your wardrobe and have you even learnt how to wear a t shirt properly without having it back to front or inside out? (The same goes for your trousers too!)

You are a firm talker for what you believe in, and you are extremely stubborn (I mean this in a good way!) If you don't agree with someones opinion you will tell them - even if they are big bosses at a large company. Being extremely passionate about things you love really makes me smile because you are making a change for the better.

To you, age is just a number. You hardly shy away from any given party that is in the calendar and upon arrival, the party knows that you have arrived. I have cringed extremely hard at your incredibly embarrassing dances to The Smiths, and when a real "club banger" comes on, you're the first to get up and dance. Sometimes the worm appears out of no where (where do you get this energy from?!)

For years you have been the shoulder to cry on in our family. If I've needed any advice, gossip or a general pick me up, you have been there right beside me. As well as being the advice guru, you have always had extremely good music taste. For example: our love of P!nk is something that we will always share and one of my favourites things that we've done together is seeing her live nearly 4 years ago! I'm forever grateful that I am able to call my mother my best friend.

Many people will agree that you REFUSE to sit still, which is incredibly aggravating at times, to say the least. You put yourself before others all the time and then forget that you have to live as well. We wouldn't have you any other way, but may I please ask this? Learn how to sit down once in a while!!

Thank you so much for what you have provided for me over the years, I love you with all my heart!

Happy 50th Birthday. (I know you will probably kill me after sharing your age...sorry!)

#DECHOX week two

Hi everyone!

Week two has been a little easier than last week. I'm not thinking about chocolate as much during my breaks at college and I've found 'healthy' alternatives (if you class salted popcorn as healthy!) I've become addicted to these nutrigrain breakfast bars currently which I used to hate this time last year - how things change!

However, I think it's taking it's toll on me in the middle of the night...I'm having dreams about eating cake, M&Ms and Jammie Dodgers and then saying "Oh no! The Dechox!" Then I wake up...It's been about 3 nights in a row when I'm scoffing down something sweet - so I think my brain is still trying to get used to it all!

My mums birthday is coming up real soon - so thats going to mean a lot of cake and sweet treats will be around...wish me luck!

10 years of glasses!

Hi everyone!

I wrote a post nearly a year ago about my braces story. I spoke about what I had to go through in order to get the teeth I have now and how I felt through the various stages of the process. Along with the dreaded braces, I have been blessed with bad eyesight - meaning my look through school was very "Ugly Betty"-esque. However, do I think it's made me the person I am today? Most definitely.

I've been wearing glasses for about 10 years. I remember the day when I couldn't read out the words on the interactive whiteboard in Year 3. One day all was fine and the next, I was sitting in the opticians chair trying to work out what the letters said on the board ahead of me. Then I was graced with some snazzy new specs! Unfortunately, I am unable to both: remember what ones they were or find a picture of me with them on. I recall them being the wire thin ones and they were pink! How lovely.
But my eyesight resisted to stay put. 12 months later and my sight had gotten worse - how brilliant! (A LOT of sarcasm will be in this post by the way...) My next pair were these round grey and black versions of the pink pair I previously had. They were all the rage during 2007 - which is what I'm telling myself so I don't cringe too hard at these pictures!

My following pair have been famously known in my house as "The Ugly Betty glasses" rightly so they're very similar to hers! I had these between the ages 11-12 and as you can probably tell, my eyesight refused to stay put!
Picture
To change everything - I decided to go for some thicker brown glasses on my next appointment. I loved these so much so that they have found their way at the bottom of the English channel...Yes I dropped them on the beach on the coast of France and I've assumed they've been dragged down to the bottom of the ocean... (no worries I got a duplicate pair as soon as I got back, that holiday to France was very...Blurry!)
Picture
I decided to go back to a thinner frame, I wasn't feeling the thick brown specs that I had previously owned. This pair has probably been the longest pair I've owned. My sight (thankfully!) didn't change for nearly two years. I thought I finally had gotten better (if you class around -3.25 in each eye good) and I didn't need to spend so much on frames again and again! Alas, no. These glasses have seen in a lot in my life, so I have kept them to this day as a little memory for me!
Picture
My next glasses came along with the braces. They were a complete game changer because I hated them at first! Bigger and rounder is what I went for and they didn't last long either!
Picture
When the train tracks came, so did this next pair. I wasn't feeling the round pair that I had so I went back to square glasses. In all honesty I thought these were the same as before but clearly they're not!
Picture
And finally, my last 3 pairs have been of a similar style. Big, oval and black/brown has been my statement go to look for the last couple of years. However, I rarely wear my glasses now so it isn't often when I go outside with any of these on! It's not that I hate them, but the opportunity of wearing contact lenses has now become an option to me. As my day schedule is constantly changing, contact lenses are much easier for me to wear than my glasses. However, some days I am sure to wear my glasses because they have always been a big part of my life!

Countless opticians appointments have been a regular thing in my life growing up. In the last year I've changed opticians because I felt like they weren't right for me anymore. My eyesight sadly has not gotten any better, so I have no idea when I will actually have solid eyesight without having to change pairs of lenses every year. (NHS vouchers will soon be out of the case once I've finished college so the expense is going to be a bit more pricey!)

I don't think I would ever of avoided the glasses problem since most of my family members all wear them, I just wish I didn't have to start wearing them at such an early age. But like I said previously, they have made me the person I am today! Trust me - glasses aren't always fun, having to shower with blurry vision isn't always great, but hey - at least I get to rock some fancy new shades every now and again!
