The Gadget Show 2016

Hi everyone!

For Christmas, I brought my dad tickets to go to The Gadget Show convention as we're both lovers of everything technical and the show itself. I thought I would put this post together to show you what we got up to and bits of tech that we got from the day.

Below is a video that I've put together from the footage from my GoPro of what we got up to on the day!
So I'll sum up the video with a bit of blurb down here!

We started off looking at the audio area which was right at the start of the convention space. There were hundreds of amazing looking speakers (I really liked the statue ones!) and crazy how some people are coming up with unique ideas for new for speakers in cars and around the house. I was then pulled aside by my dad to take part in the young driver's section of the convention - as you can tell by the video: I can't drive. I wasn't keen on doing it from the start but I queued...and queued...and queued (2 hours of queueing) for a 5 minute drive...Was it worth it? Probably not. But the company who organised it sounds really good and I wish I heard about them sooner! It was like drone city from that part onwards, we watched Parrot drones be controlled by a computer, little drone being flown between crowds and even large ones with cameras to be sent outside for filming projects! After walking around for 6 hours, we went to see the live show with all the presenters comparing tech and showing off some new bits - which was all really fun (I also got a picture with two of them!)

It was such a great day and I definitely reccommend you to attend if you enjoy bits of tech and don't even watch the show! There's so much on offer and it definitely shows a glimpse of the technology which will be the norm in the future!

We couldn't walk away empty handed so we decided to get a couple of gadgets...

This little piece of tech was the first we picked up. Virtual reality is becoming a thing now and it is SO expensive to get your hands on equipment which allows you to view the software. However, we picked up this cardboard box which cost us £12 and we can do virtual reality for practically nothing. It fits phones 5" or more and you can download apps, put this on your face and be transformed into another world! It's really great fun, with headphones as well you can really be immersed into something completely different.

So, as you've learnt from this post - I don't drive. I walk everywhere or get on public transport if I really need to get somewhere fast and easily. As everything is close by, it means that I'm walking all day everyday and these steps will add up eventually. My mum bought a Garmin watch a few months prior and it counts steps and mile coverage. I was interested in buying something with a cheaper price tag to motivate me more to do something a bit more active. Whilst we were there I was talked into buying this gadget: the iFit Vue.

It counts steps, miles covered, calorie intake, how many calories you've burned, records my sleep pattern and even analyses my workouts (whenever I get round to doing one!) It's been a real eye opener for me as I have a lot more control on what I eat, persuading me to walk most days to college instead of getting the bus and making me feel a bit more better about myself! I got this for £49.99 and I think it's the best money I've spent (look how pretty the colour is as well!) It can also be removed from its watch strap and it connects to your phone so you can see all your analytics!

FG Outside Drone

Yep. We bought a drone. My dad has wanted a drone for weeks prior to this, and when being bombarded with drones left right and centre - he couldn't resist. It's so powerful and really great fun to play with, the blades don't cut into your calves or hands as they're protected by styrofoam!

And there was my little recap of the weekend. As I said it was great fun and we're looking forward to going next year!

See you in the next blog post,

Happy 2nd Blogiversary!

Hi everyone!

This site has been around for 2 years now (WHAT? Where has that time gone?!)

It's been a crazy few years and I have decided to actually prepare myself for the anniversary post by adding to this post every month or so (starting in December 2015!) I feel like I owe you a lengthy post and what better way to do it starting now! In case I forget - thank you to all you readers/page viewers, we may not be a huge number, but the amount is just lovely for me!

The Beginning:

Okay, that sounded like a very dramatic title to have - when in reality, it isn't going to be too crazy! I had this wild idea to go back and read a few of my blog posts when I first started out - starting with my first post: 'Starting out...' (how many times can I repeat start?)

Remember when the blog used to look like this?! I think my idea for the blog was to have one of those cool moving backgrounds to make me seem like I knew what I was doing, when I really didn't! This was back to a time when I didn't know the magic of Photoshop, editing images to fit a blog post and all that. I mean look at this Easter post now!

Awful layout - but then that was the learning curve that I did have to face at some point!

To be fair, I have had my fair share of theme changes over the years. But I'm hoping to stick to this one! (Watercolour is a nice effect, huh?) Comparing my old posts to now, I have noticed a similar theme with my writing. Consistence is key! Obviously there are things that I still cringe at - obvious spelling mistakes, poor use of grammar - you know the usual that goes a bit wrong!

Are schedules even a thing?

I never had any set schedule at the start of all of this. I just posted what I wanted, when I wanted. Reading back all I really posted was about what I was doing that week (okay, something similar to what I'm doing currently - but I think that my life is a bit more exciting now!) and beauty posts would go up after I've made something in my bathroom using products from the kitchen. In all honesty, 8 times out of 10 I would search up the DIYs on Pinterest and see if I could make my own version...

Also, I most likely threw out the products straight after I'd make it! Kitchen supplies begin to separate on your bedroom shelf after a while.

However, other tricks such as the make up brush cleaner I still use to this day!

What's happened?

I've come a long way since writing that first blog post. I was still in school when I began and with anything that anyone does which is a little bit different from the mainstream of being "cool", I got stick for writing blog posts! However, I got over it quickly - people's comments didn't seem to bother me much and hey, they were/still are giving me page views at the end of the day, so I won't complain!

The blog has set me up for the next 5+ years - which is crazy! I've been accepted into university to study journalism and I've also secured a job which I really enjoy which is linked journalism too! I would never of thought that this would have happened when writing the first post 2 years ago. I thought I would probably go on for so long then soon give it all up!

The last few weeks have been very difficult for me. Including just recently and many times in the past I have just wanted to not bother anymore. I didn't think I could put enough content forward or felt like I was going nowhere with it. However, someone very close to me who sadly isn't around anymore told me this: "If you keep at it, you will get to your dream...all you need to do is a bit of hard work!" Saying this has really put my eye on the prize and actually get to my goals eventually!

Now?

So what happens from here?

I would really like to buy the official admin name for this site - I think that now is a good time to remove the Weebly part from the URL. Also, I've put some thought to possibly getting paid in the future but that will probably be a long, long time!

The main goal in the next year is to buy the URL before the 3rd year anniversary.

As I said before, I'm not receiving thousands of views a week - but the amount is great for me. So view count is never going to bother me - why should something I enjoy stop me if I don't hit a specific amount of views?

Thank you SO much for reading and joining me on this amazing journey. I'm grateful for your support, shares & retweets in the past. Let's hope the next year is as fun filled and eye opening as the previous one! Can't believe I've been doing this for two years now, where has the time gone?!

Thanks again and as always...

See you in the next blog post!
